What is Oxygen Production Process for Cylinder Filling System
Oxygen accounts for around 21% of planet Earth’s atmosphere by volume and 23% by weight of atmospheric air. It makes up 45% of Earth’s crust as oxide minerals besides constituting 89% of all mass of water on the planet. The non-metallic element is found in large number of natural minerals such as sulfates, phosphates, carbonates and oxides. It is the 2nd largest industrially produced gas and is the 3rd most abundant element in the universe after hydrogen and helium. Oxygen is also found in biological components including DNA inside of the human body. It is essential for all living beings as we require oxygen for breathing.
Oxygen is a non-metallic element with a low boiling/ condensing point: -297.3°F (-183°C). It is heavier than air and below its boiling point the non-metallic element turns blue liquid, a little heavier than water. It is referred to as GOX or GO when produced or delivered in gaseous form and as LOX when it is generated or stored as liquid oxygen. Industrially produced in the 2nd largest volume, cryogenic distillation process is used for generating high purity oxygen (typically 99.5%) as a gas or liquid. Adsorption technologies (PSA or VPSA) are used for producing gases with lower purity.
